This is entirely up to you. You can configure Shield to upsell a fixed price (e.g. $2) or a percentage (e.g. 3%) of the customer's order value with custom pricing rules. We can help you set and optimize this pricing.
No - Shield is not an insurance company. We sell software to enable Shopify brands to charge custom fees to customers that provide a guarantee to the customer that the brand will protect their package. Brands can customize the copy on the widget to add various premium services (e.g. reship if package lost or damaged, free returns, money-back guarantees, etc.)
You keep the majority of shipping fees collected. After offsetting the upsold revenue against customer claims, the rest is your profit. Brands using Shield have earned up to hundreds of thousands a year in additional net profit.

Yes - Shopify only allows embedding on checkout for customers on Shopify Plus. If you're on regular Shopify, you need to use our cart widget. Our team is happy to help you with either installation process.
